USMX-ILA STRIKE UPDATE-PORT CONGESTION SURCHARGES

As reported previously, there is a possible port strike on the US East Coast from January 15, 2025. Carriers are looking to collect PORT CONGESTION SURCHARGES for all cargo moving to or via US East Coast/US Gulf ports effective in the middle of January. 

Below is a list of the carriers and charges that have been published thus far, but not limited to:

• Evergreen

  • Emergency Port Charge

  • Effective January 10, 2025

  • Far East to USA

  • Based on Cargo Arrival

  • $2400/20ST, $3000/40GP/40HC/45, $2400/20REEFER, $3000/40REEFER

• ZIM

  • ILA Strike Surcharge

  • Effective January 10, 2025

  • All Ports of Loading to US East Coast/US Gulf ports

  • Based on Gate In Date

  • $1000/20ST, $2000/40GP/40HC

• HAPAG LLOYD

  • Work Disruption Surcharge (WDS) and Work Interruption Destination Surcharge (WID)

  • Effective January 20, 2025, the surcharge will only be applied if disruptions occur and will be waived if no disruptions take place. It will not apply to containers already on the water or gated in before January 20, 2025, and will only affect cargo gated in on or after this date.

  • Based on Cargo Gated In

  • On Imports from all ports in North Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, Oceania and Latin America to the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Ports

    • WDS- $850/20ST, $1700/40

  • On Imports from all ports in East Asia - Japan, Republic of Korea, Taiwan (PRC), Hong Kong (PRC), China (PRC), Macau (PRC), Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines to the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Ports

    • WID-$850/20ST, $1700/40

• YML

  • Port Congestion Surcharge

  • Effective January 15, 2025

  • All Origins to USA and CANADA

  • Based on Gate In Date

  • $800/20ST, $1000/40GP, $1125/40HC, $1266/45
